This original 1940s lame jacket fastens at the front with six buttons, each covered in a bright Royal purple silk velvet. The high neckline features a neat collar comprised of velvet fabric and the shoulders are slightly gathered and padded to add a sense of structure. The outer fabric of the jacket features a machine embroidered horizontal pattern of blue, yellow, green and purple shades, interwoven with gold lame thread on a black background. The inside is lined in a rich purple rayon crepe which has experienced only slight fading to the back of the neck, not visible at all when worn.
In very good condition overall for an item of clothing approaching 85 years of age. Aside from some slight fading and discolouration to the interior lining and to the shoulder and cuffs, this jacket is incredibly well preserved. Only the blue and purple shades across the shoulders have experienced minor, aged-related fade which has resulted in the bands on the high point of the sleeves looking more lilac in colour. This change is not perceptible when worn due to the jacket's luminosity and interesting fabric and the photos are an accurate reflection of condition. It would best fit up to a size UK 10-12 or US 6-8.
